Lightning Deal Kubina To Flyers
The Tampa Bay Lightning reportedly have traded defenseman Pavel Kubina to the Philadelphia Flyers, pending League approval. TSN reports that the Lightning will receive second- and fourth-round draft picks.
Kubina is in the final year of a two-year contract he signed with the Lightning in 2010 with a reported average value of $3.85 million. He will become an unrestricted free agent after this season.
Kubina, who has a no-trade clause, was held out of practice and games this week by the Lightning while they tried to deal him. GM Steve Yzerman asked him for a list of five teams that Kubina would allow a trade to.
It’s the second trade by each team in the past three days — the Bolts dealt center Dominic Moore to San Jose on Thursday in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2012 NHL Draft. That deal came about two hours after the Flyers acquired defenseman Nicklas Grossman from Dallas for two draft picks.
